How CEREC Works
The CEREC process replaces the multi-step, multi-visit workflow of traditional crowns with a streamlined digital approach:
- Preparation: Dr. Brumbaugh prepares the tooth, removing any decay or damaged structure.
- Digital scan: A Primescan digital impression captures a precise 3D model of the prepared tooth and surrounding teeth, with no putty trays required.
- On-screen design: Using CEREC software, Dr. Brumbaugh designs the restoration to match your bite, contours, and adjacent teeth.
- Milling: The design is sent to an in-office milling unit that carves the crown from a solid block of dental-grade ceramic in approximately 15 minutes.
- Bonding: Dr. Brumbaugh adjusts the fit, polishes the surface, and bonds the finished restoration permanently in place.
