Detailed Information

Our office handles severe toothaches and dental pain, cracked, chipped, or broken teeth, knocked-out (avulsed) teeth, dental abscesses and infections, lost or broken fillings and crowns, soft tissue injuries, objects lodged between teeth, and broken dentures or orthodontic appliances.

Knocked-Out Tooth — Handle by the crown (not the root). Rinse gently, try to place it back in the socket. If not possible, keep it in milk or saliva and reach our office within 30 minutes for the best chance of reimplantation.

Severe Toothache — Rinse with warm salt water and use OTC pain relievers. Do not place aspirin on the gum. Call our office for urgent evaluation.

Broken or Chipped Tooth — Save any pieces. Rinse your mouth, apply gentle pressure to stop bleeding. A cold compress reduces swelling. Contact us for same-day repair.

ERs can prescribe antibiotics and manage bleeding but cannot perform extractions, root canals, crown repairs, or reimplantation. A dental office with emergency capabilities provides definitive treatment, not just temporary relief.

Go to the ER only for uncontrolled bleeding, jaw fracture, facial swelling affecting breathing, or trauma with loss of consciousness. For all other dental emergencies, calling our office first ensures targeted treatment.

Children are prone to dental trauma from sports and falls. If a baby tooth is knocked out, do not reimplant it — this can damage the developing permanent tooth. Control bleeding and contact our office. If a permanent tooth is knocked out, follow reimplantation steps and bring the child in immediately.

While not every emergency can be prevented, proactive care reduces risk: wear a custom mouthguard during sports, keep up with regular cleanings and exams, avoid chewing ice or hard candy, address tooth sensitivity early, replace old fillings and crowns before they break, and treat bruxism with a custom night guard.

Costs vary by diagnosis and treatment required. An emergency exam with imaging diagnoses the problem, followed by a treatment recommendation and cost estimate before any procedures begin. We accept most PPO plans and offer financing through CareCredit and Cherry.
